Vojtěch Jarník International Mathematical Competition

VJIMC 2011
The Vojtěch Jarník International Mathematical Competition is held at the University of Ostrava every year in March or April. The competition is intended for university students who are interested in mathematics.
It is the oldest mathematical competition for university students at the European Union.
The competition was established in 1991 by a student of a student of Vojtěch Jarník and is organized by students of a student of a student of Vojtěch Jarník.

Competition Overview
There are two categories of competitors:
Category I – university student who does not attend and has not completed 3rd year of the university studies of mathematics (or similar branch) and who is less than 22 years old on the day of the Competition.
Category II – university student who has not completed university studies of mathematics (or similar branch) and is less than 25 years old on the day of the Competition.

Competitors solve usually four problems in four hours. Problems are chosen by the jury which consists of university delegates.

22nd Annual Competition (2012)

VJIMC 2012
was held at the University of Ostrava on Friday, 30th March 2012. All students interested in Mathematics were welcome. The participation in the competition is free of charge, travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the organiser. Accommodation is not managed by the organiser.


21st Annual Competition (2011)

was held at the University of Ostrava on Thursday, 31st March 2011.
All students interested in Mathematics were welcome.
The participation in the competition is free of charge, travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the organizer.
